As the Madison County State’s Attorney, Tom Gibbons keeps our communities safe by putting dangerous criminals behind bars and fighting for victim’s rights. A lifelong resident of Madison County, Tom has more than a decade of experience as a prosecutor dedicated to getting dangerous criminals off the streets and making sure defendants are held accountable for their criminal behavior.

 

 

Tom Gibbons was appointed Madison County State’s Attorney on November 17, 2010 and elected to the seat in November 2012.  Since taking office, Tom has maintained the highest level of integrity in the office and

applied a common sense approach to ensure all county residents are treated fairly and equally regardless of connections, political affiliation or economic status. As a parent, Tom faces the same challenges as other parents in fighting to keep their children safe by giving them a safe home, schools and community to grow up in. As State's Attorney, Tom is dedicated to making the communities in Madison County safer for all families and children by working side-by-side with local police forces, our Sheriff's Department, and federal authorities to fight back against drug traffickers trying to infiltrate our communities and by taking a hard line against perpetrators of violent crime - especially crimes against children.

 

 

Tom lives in Granite City with his two sons and wife, Lori, a Granite City police officer. The Gibbons' family includes three dogs,  Bosco, a rescue golden retriever, Priscilla, a Golden mix rescued from a kill shelter, and Rayland, a Hope Rescue dog. Tom and his family are members of and regularly attend Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville.

Tom's Professional affiliations include: Illinois State's Attorney's Association, Madison County Child Advocacy Board, Madison County Family Violence Prevention Council, Madison County Juvenile Diversion, Edwardsville Gun Club,  Madison County Bar Association, National Rifle Association, Illinois State Rifle Association.
